Objectives

After taking this course, participants will become familiar with the clinical and histopathologic features of the following five rare lymphomas arising in spaces and composed of large transformed lymphoid cells:

1. Classic Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas with chronic inflammation (PAL and PAL-like): CD20+, EBV+, HHV8-, non-GC B-cell lymphoma, poor prognosis

2. Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas in cysts and in myxomas: CD20+, EBV+, HHV8-, non-GC B-cell lymphoma, excellent prognosis

3. Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL): HHV8+, EBV+, CD20- large B-cell lymphoma, poor prognosis

4. PEL-like lymphoma: HHV8-, CD20+, EBV-/+, non-GC B-cell lymphoma, intermediate prognosis

5. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma arising with breast implants: CD30+, ALK-, T-lineage lymphoma, excellent prognosis.
